Swine Flu!!

OM goodness, can you believe what is going on with this pandemic?

they have cancelled all my children's field trips and now jere doesn't know if they are going to ft. worth this week-end or not for their band trip. you know i wasn't very paranoid until i got a text from my friend staci in ft. worth telling me they had shut down all the schools until may 11th. it's crazy!

i just got a call from the head of the school board at CCS, they will let me know in the morning if we can have the spring music program i have been busting my booty on for the last month.

well anyway, i'm going to get back to a little light reading i was doing, gotta finish "the stand," by stephen king. i hope it has a happy ending . . .

Music

sorry i haven't been blogging much lately, but i am working up at the school every afternoon in addition to my regular SAHM duties teaching music class to the 1st-5th grade classes at CCS. our program is this thursday night and my husband, pastor, and best guy friend are graciously working with me (in addition to their full time jobs) as my band. so these past two weeks have been crazy with rehearsals when i could get them.

i hope to be back to normal soon in the mean time, blessings to all!

btw-the pic of jere has nothing to do with anything, i just thought he looked so funny in his new bare office (we will fix it up this summer when we have time HA HA)

The weekend is here

well, this week is finally over. both kids went back to school today and I began the quest of sanitizing, cleaning, and trying to get everyone back on schedule. laundry, vacuuming, and just playing with iz and elle-soph consumed my day, by the time jere came home I had no idea how late it was.

tonight we are vegging, watching movies, and eating chips, soda, and little debbies. we don't plan on thinking again until Sunday morning! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend

blessings and love

we need an immune boost

well i have spent my entire day cleaning up puke, rubbing backs, and purchasing crackers and ginger ale.

this is not how i wanted to spend my monday.

jack and blythe are not feeling well as a matter of fact this is the fifth time we are dealing with strep throat since september. we now how to consider the fact that perhaps blythe could benefit from some surgery.

blythe is past miserable. she has had the shot twice in the past and penicillin as well, this time they gave her keflex to see how well that heals her. at this point she has ask me to personally to just rip her tonsils out. i opted to give her motrin and tylenol and told her to take another nap.

jack has just thrown up until he basically cannot even sit up any more. our ped figures he is just fighting strep, so fingers crossed jack wins this battle and begins to feel better by tomorrow, otherwise it's back to the doctor for him tomorrow.

pray for speed healing for all of my kids that are sick and continued good health for the others

blessings,

today

today was a horrible day for parenting in my world.

today was awful.

today is not a day i shined as a parent.

today was not a day my child shined as an individual.

today taught me to not assume and to tighten my reigns again and ALWAYS go with my gut.

today reminded me, they are just children, and they are my world.

today i am thankful for life, thankful for second chances, and thankful for each of my five precious, beautiful, and wonderous children.

today pointed out once again that my children are irreplacable and it only takes a moment for things to get tossed upside down.

today i love more than anything . . . . . . .

The Zoo

last night we threw caution (and routine, schedules, homework, and bedtimes) to the wind and went to the zoo around 6. it was not very busy and as such we let the kids kind of run free.

it. was. wonderful.

we had the best time, jere and i held hands and our kids held our hands, everyone got along and no one for two solid hours complained or griped about anyone else.

heaven, plus abilene has recently done a huge and much needed overhaul on their zoo, so it really was like we were going there for the first time.

we got home late, half of the kids recieved baths, and some homework was completed on the way to school still . . .

i wouldn't change a minute of it

Happy Easter

our weekend was pretty crazy. we had visits from both marmee and papa and grandma, as well as a teen filled party friday night and a birthday party saturday morning.

there was no rest for the weary, to the point i forgot to dye eggs until saturday night at 9.

we spent Easter sunday with our pastor and his family and sadly i forgot to take pics of our oldest kids.

hope yours went well

ps, dresses were made by grandma vanessa for Easter, don't they look great?

SAHM

there are a variety of reasons why I'm a SAHM, stay at home mom, some are valient and some are selfish.

today's reason is fun

kelsey had a project for ap english that required her to create (out of food) what she thought Kafka's bug might have looked like in the "metamorphosis".

we made caterpillars out of cupcakes.

i have never enjoyed this story more :)

That's What I call Irony

o.k. so yesterday we decided to throw caution to the wind and let the girls stay home alone while we ran to Graham to pick up a dresser for Ella-Sophie. two sets of our best and dearest friends knew we were leaving, the girls had their cell phones, snacks, and strict orders to stay off computer and get some laundry done. armed with books from library, i-pods, and chocolate cake they were thrilled to see us walk out the door.

we arrived in Graham around 4:30, had dinner with mom and were basically enjoying this "stolen" time with our three youngest. the baby played quietly on the floor while belle and jack watched monk to their hearts delights. around 6:30 we decided to get ready to go back when ella-sophie began to cry non-stop, nothing satisfied her, no one sated her, she was miserable, and pulling on both ears and running a fever. we debated and decided to run to the e.r. with her before leaving for home. we call one set of our friends and decide that maybe the girls should go home with them.

it is now 7 pm.

at approximately 7:30 pm our daughters call (bryan and tricia have not picked them up yet) to let us know, "the washing machine has exploded dad, there's water everywhere!"

crap.

8:00 pm bryan and tricia have received the same phone call and are now at our home. it is bad. really bad, for once blythe has not exaggerated. when they drove up the water was running out of the garage. apparently the tube that tells the washer it is full and to stop filling up had come unattached so for one hour the washer, "filled up". the girl's room, garage, and laundry room are flooded and our good friends are stuck trying to remove carpets and furniture.

9:30 pm bryan and tricia have packed up our girls and go back home exhausted. we are just now being discharged with the baby who has a double ear infection and a cough with a sore throat.

we pull into abilene around 11:20, jere drops us off and drives to caps to pick up the girls. he then comes home and works on the washing machine until around 1 am.

my heart nearly broke when his alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, i hugged, kissed, and praised his wonderfulness as a husband, father, and provider until he got out of bed a little before 6. he and two extremely surly teenagers left the house around 6:40 this morning. he has a full day as he has to drive a bus after school and move his entire bandhall into the new building today as well.

my goal today is to try to clean up this mess as best i can, i'm also making brownies. pray that all three of them stay awake and have a good day today please. i let jack sleep until 8 so he is doing better than those three.

in our house we believe that the first day of the week is truly Sunday, so we've had our bad day for the week :) hope yours went better than ours. have a wonderful, blessing filled, great week!

No rest for the Weary!

I am currently teaching and directing the school's Spring Music program (note to readers, just because you are married to the band director does not mean you know anything about music. Don't believe me, ask a neurologist's wife about brain surgery). I'm tired already and we are only on week ONE. I'm finishing up one fundraiser and we start the next one in two weeks.

I do all this with Ella-Sophie in her sling attached to my body for 2-4 hours drooling or zerberting my chest while Isabel hangs on my arm, eats too many sweets, and generally makes a pest of herself. But who can blame them. I'm bored and frustrated why shouldn't they be as well. My back aches, my head hurts, and I'm completely irritated. I sincerely hope my children are enjoying private school ;)

and yet . . .

I got to class today with the first graders and they were rip roaringly ready for me. We sang, "Down in my Heart," and those kids were really going and giving me and the Lord their best 100% and I really had a great time today. One of the kids ask me when I first learned to sing so beautifully (insert smirk here) and I said, "welllll I guess when I was your age singing in our church choir," smiling back as sweet as sugar this little one said, "then that means I can be as good as you soon and I can carry a baby on my belly and sing with all the little kids at school and drink sonic drinks?"

aspiring to be me at any age is dangerous, aspiring to be me at six is hysterical and terribly sweet and just what I needed today.

thanks shy . . .
